Talking Vision is Vision Australia Radio’s flagship program, discussing the latest news and issues from a blindness and low vision perspective.

It’s a huge week in the world of Talking Vision as we celebrate 700 episodes of the program since its debut in 2011.

You’ll hear from Stephen Jolley and Stella Glorie, as well as Sam Colley, as they each share some highlights from a favourite interview during their time as host of Talking Vision.

We begin with a conversation Stephen had in August of 2011 with Paul from Vision Australia, one of the organisers of an event where a dozen primary school students had the opportunity to speak with an astronaut from the International Space Station. We also hear from one of those students who asked Mike a question that evening.

Fast forwarding to 2019, Stella caught up with long time Braille Music Camp attendee and now staff member Michaela Schmidt. They chat all about the importance of braille music, why being in a choir is so much fun but also why the camp continues to enrich the lives of young musicians who are blind or have low vision.

Finally, we take a short trip back to late last year when Sam caught up with Iraqi mathematician, educator and Blind Australian of the Year nominee Arkan Yousef. After experiencing vision loss in 2000, Arkan fled Iraq and began a new life in Australia, where he has been a valued member of the local community in western Sydney for the past 17 years.
